Regular Season Round 25: Schalke - Hamburg 99-90

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hamburg (16-8) against fourteenth ranked Schalke (9-15) on Friday night. Visiting Hamburg was defeated by Schalke in a tough game in Schalke 90-99. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and center Bjoern Rohwer (213-95) chipped in 19 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side naturalized Afghani point guard Achmadschah Zazai (177-86) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and power forward Jannik Freese (211-86) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hamburg's coach Mike Taylor tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Schalke moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Hamburg keeps the second position with eight games lost. Schalke will meet higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hamburg will play against Artland Dragons (#11) and hope to secure a win.
