Regular Season Round 19: Marburg - Braunschweig 77-59

Very expected game when 9th ranked Braunschweig (5-13) was defeated on the road by second ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (14-4) 77-59. BC Pharmaserv Marburg outrebounded Braunschweig 50-35 including 38 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian-Hungarian center Alexandria Kiss-Rusk (193-93, college: McGill, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. International forward Marie Bertholdt (183-95, college: Santa Clara) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Maggie Mulligan (189-95, college: Massachusetts) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Janae Smith (188-92, college: UAB) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Braunschweig in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Pharmaserv Marburg maintains second place with 14-4 record having just two points less than leader Herner. Newly promoted Braunschweig keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against Eisvogel Freiburg (#5) on the road in the next round. Braunschweig will play against Goettingen (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
