Second Stage Round 5: Cluj Napoca - Sibiu 88-89

The most exciting game of round 5 in the Liga Nationala took place in Cluj Napoca. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-ranked Cluj Napoca (13-6) to first ranked Sibiu (15-4) 89-88 in the game for the first place. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-88. 28 personal fouls committed by Cluj Napoca helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian Justas Tamulis (196-94) who scored 35 points (!!!). Sibiu have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-4 record. Cluj Napoca at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Sibiu are looking forward to face Timisoara (#5) at home in the next round. Cluj Napoca will play against Pitesti and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
