Second Stage Round 6: Oradea - Craiova 83-79

An interesting game for Oradea (12-8) which hosted in Oradea one of their biggest challengers Craiova (11-9). Third ranked Oradea managed to get a 4-point victory 83-79. After very bad start, Craiova stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 2 points 36-34. But it was not enough and Oradea took back the control in second half. The best player for the winners was international point guard Giordan Watson (178-85, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 16 points and 5 assists. Lithuanian forward Arturas Valeika (206-85, college: Weber St.) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Porter Troupe (196-83, college: Portland, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 17 points and 4 assists and Serbian point guard Igor Mijajlovic (192-84) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Craiova's coach Aleksandar Todorov tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains third position with 12-8 record having just four point less than leader Targu Mures. Craiova lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Oradea's next round opponent will be Timisoara (#5) on the road. Craiova will play against the league's second-placed Cluj Napoca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
