Sixth-ranked WSG Koenigs (11-12) gave a tough game to second ranked Goetting.ASC (18-5) in Wildau. The visitors from Goettingen managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely WSG Koenigs outrebounded Goetting.ASC 38-21 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by swingman Nick Boakye (197-95) who scored that evening 25 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Marco Grimaldi (188-83) supported him with 18 points and 9 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds by forward Christoph Tetzner (201-81) did not help to save the game for WSG Koenigs. American guard Desmond Medder (188, college: Pikeville) added 24 points and 5 rebounds. Four WSG Koenigs players scored in double figures. Goetting.ASC have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position in North with 18-5 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Duesseldorf. WSG Koenigs at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Neustadt TSV. Goetting.ASC will play against Bergedorf (#6) in Hamburg in the next round. WSG Koenigs will play on the road against Aschersleben and hope to get back on the winning track.
