Eighth-ranked Dzukija (7-16) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Neptunas (19-5) in Alytus on Saturday. The visitors from Klaipeda managed to secure only six-point victory 88-82. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime then Dzukija managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Neptunas who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 13-7. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Dzukija was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import guard Kyle Weaver (198-86, college: Washington St., agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 8 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis used entire bench in such tough game. Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (208-95, college: Xavier) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Elijah Brown (193-95, college: Oregon) added 22 points and 5 assists in the effort for Dzukija. Neptunas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 16 games lost. Neptunas will face Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys in the next round. Dzukija will play on the road against Juventus (#6) in Utena and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
