Second Stage Round 8: Ginasio - Beira Mar 78-68

Leader Ginasio delivered the twelfth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Beira Mar (6-16) 78-68 in Figueira da Foz. The winners were led by the former international center Marco Goncalves (206-84) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Goncalo Barbosa (198-98) supported him with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Ginasio players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by Joao Pinto (186-2) did not help to save the game for Beira Mar. Point guard Goncalo Catarino (173-94) added 19 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ginasio maintains first position with 12-10 record, which they share with Sampaense and Sanjoanense. Beira Mar at the other side keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost. Ginasio's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Benfica B in Lisbona and it will be for sure the game of the week. Beira Mar will play at home against Estoril Basket (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
