Regular Season Round 15: Kyiv Basket - Dynamo-NPU 74-93

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kyiv: Dynamo-NPU (#1) and Kyiv Basket (#2). Kyiv Basket was crushed at home by 19 points 74-93 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the 16-game winning streak of Kyiv Basket. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo-NPU. Kyiv Basket managed to win third quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dynamo-NPU dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kyiv Basket's 32. Dynamo-NPU forced 19 Kyiv Basket turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Dynamo-NPU especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dynamo-NPU made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American guard Andreona Keys (178-95, college: Purdue) who led her team to a victory with 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Her fellow American import guard Ashley Morrissette (175-95, college: Purdue) contributed with 26 points and 5 assists for the winners. Keys is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international guard Ievgeniia Spitkovska (174-88) answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international swingman Anna Olkhovyk (188-87) added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Kyiv Basket. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Dynamo-NPU (23-3) have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. Defending champion Kyiv Basket keeps the second position with three games lost. Dynamo-NPU are looking forward to face Interkhim (#6) in Odessa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kyiv Basket will play on the road against Interkhim (#6) in Odessa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
