Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tofas (13-6) against eleventh ranked Banvit (7-11) on Saturday night. Visiting Tofas was edged by Banvit in a tough game in Balikesir 89-90. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tofas. Banvit shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) saved the victory by scoring 24 points. Mexican point guard Alexander Perez-Kaufmann (191-93, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 20 points and 7 assists for the winners. Banvit's coach Hakan Demir allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) replied with 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and his fellow American import guard Diante Garrett (193-88, college: Iowa St.) added 12 points and 8 assists in the effort for Tofas. Five Tofas players scored in double figures. Banvit maintains eleventh position with 7-11 record. Tofas at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. Banvit will play against higher ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tofas will play against Sakarya BSB (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
