There was no surprise when 10th ranked Kaiserslautern (8-14) was defeated on the road by first ranked Speyer (21-1) 107-98 on Saturday. Speyer looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Russian forward Albert Kuppe (200-88) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 5 rebounds and forward Tim Schwartz (197-87) who added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward John Barber (200-85, college: Youngstown St.) with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Hungarian guard Gergely Hosszu (190-86) scored 18 points. Four Speyer and five Kaiserslautern players scored in double figures. Speyer have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South-West with 21-1 record. Kaiserslautern lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 14 games lost. Speyer will face Mainz (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
