Regular Season Round 20: Chemnitz - Hannover 54-67
Date: March 9, 2019
There was no surprise when 11th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (4-15) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Hannover (9-10) 67-54. Hannover forced 21 ChemCats Chemnitz turnovers. The winners were led by Serbian center Ivana Brajkovic (196-93) who scored that evening 17 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Vee Young (186-89, college: Martin Methodist) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Young is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hannover's coach Rodger Battersby used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Maya Hood (178-94, college: San Diego) did not help to save the game for ChemCats Chemnitz. American-Czech center Klara Brichacova (198-95, college: SMU) added 9 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Hannover maintains sixth position with 9-10 record. ChemCats Chemnitz at the other side stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Hannover's next round opponent will be higher ranked Eisvogel Freiburg (#5) at home and it may be quite challenging game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen (#8) and hope to win that game.
