Second Stage Round 1: Amager - Aabyhoj 68-75

An interesting game was also home loss of Amager in a game in Kastrup versus undefeated Aabyhoj (#1) 75-68. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Amager won third quarter 18-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aabyhoj won last quarter 23-17. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Amager's 28. Aabyhoj forced 24 Amager turnovers. Forward Caroline Wich (185-96, college: Portland St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and swingman Malene Pedersen (180-1) accounted for 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Aabyhoj's coach Michael Niebling allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Valerie Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 27 rebounds and American-Samoan Geraldynn Leaupepe (-96) added 26 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 9 steals respectively for Amager in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aabyhoj will meet Herlev (#4) on the road in the next round. Amager will play against Vaerlose and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
