Regular Season Round 27: Timberwolves - Vienna 71-87

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Vienna: Hallmann (#7) and Timberwolves (#8). Timberwolves were crushed at home by 16 points 71-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Hallmann. Timberwolves managed to win fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hallmann looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Luka Gvozden (184-93) helped adding 17 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Four Hallmann players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Bosnian forward Nemanja Nikolic (202-89) with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American-Italian swingman Joe Scott (192-88, college: St.Thomas) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Hallmann maintains seventh place with 12-14 record. Newly promoted Timberwolves keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Hallmann are looking forward to face higher ranked Gmunden Swans (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Timberwolves will play against Furstenfeld Panthers (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
