Regular Season Round 19: NINERS Academy - Wuerzburg Ak. 77-72

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked NINERS (4-10) defeated 5th ranked Akademie (5-9) in Chemnitz 77-72 on Sunday. NINERS looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Bruno Albrecht (188-1) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 assists. Emmanuel Womala (194-0) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. NINERS's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Lukas Roth (184-2) answered with 20 points and center Ben Bredenbroecker (204-2) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Akademie. Four Akademie players scored in double figures. NINERS moved-up to seventh place in Group 3. Loser Akademie keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. NINERS will face league's leader Junior Loewen in Breitenguessbach in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akademie will play on the road against Junior Loewen (#9) in Braunschweig and hope to win that game.
