Second Stage Round 6: Targu Jiu - Focsani 54-79
Date: March 11, 2019
An interesting game for Focsani (14-10) which played road game in Rovinari against one of their biggest challengers Targu Jiu (12-12). Third ranked Focsani had an easy win 79-54. The game without a history. Focsani led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Focsani forced 22 Targu Jiu turnovers. Serbian center Petar Vukovic (210-97) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American forward Kyle Kilgore (201, college: Dakota St.) supported him with 21 points. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Jordan Martin (203-93, college: Missouri St.) did not help to save the game for Targu Jiu. Forward Adrian Rosu (198-91) added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Focsani maintains third position with 14-10 record having just ten point less than leader Targu Mures. Targu Jiu at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. Focsani will meet at home league's second-placed Marmatiei in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Targu Jiu will play against Miercurea Ciuc and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
