The game had a very big importance for first-ranked Kibirkstis as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kibirkstis defeated one of their biggest challengers Vilkmerge in Ukmerge 82-65. They outrebounded Vilkmerge 50-32 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Deja Middleton (193-90, college: Fayetteville St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Gabija Meskonyte (181-98, agency: Two Points) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Middleton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kibirkstis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Klaudija Serkeviciute (172-99) with 18 points and 5 assists and the former international point guard Gabriele Sulske (175-90, agency: LBM Management) scored 13 points. Vilkmerge's coach Gytautas Kievinas rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Vilkmerge lost third consecutive game. They still keep top place with eight games lost. Vilkmerge will play next round against strong Aistes-LSU trying to get back on the winning streak. Kibirkstis will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Aistes-LSU in Kaunas.
