Regular Season Round 23: Sigortam.net ITU - Final Spor 87-81

Very expected game in Istanbul where 12th ranked Final Spor (8-15) was defeated by seventh ranked Sigortam.net ITU (13-10) 87-81 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sigortam.net ITU made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Final Spor was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Jerome Frink (201-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Yunus Akcay (191-89) helped adding 15 points. American LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor) responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import forward Lennard Freeman (203-95, college: NC State) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Sigortam.net ITU and five Final Spor players scored in double figures. Final Spor's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sigortam.net ITU moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Petkim. Newly promoted Final Spor keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Sigortam.net ITU will face Artvin Bld (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Final Spor will play against Yeni Mamak and hope to win that game.
