Second Stage Round 2: Herlev - Aabyhoj 63-68

The game between Top Four teams took place in Herlev. host Herlev (0-3) lost to Aabyhoj (3-0) 68-63. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-7. But Herlev won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aabyhoj dominated on the defensive end, holding Herlev to just 7 points in first quarter. They also forced 20 Herlev turnovers. Forward Caroline Wich (185-96, college: Portland St.) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Andrea Larsen (173-1) supported her with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Aabyhoj's coach Michael Niebling allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 20 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals by power forward Katrine Jessen (188-1) did not help to save the game for Herlev. Forward Laura Ziegler (184-2) added 10 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Aabyhoj will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Herlev will play again on the road against Aabyhoj (#1) to get more than just one victory in their record.
