Regular Season Round 23: Odessa - Cherkasy 88-85

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Odessa (9-17) edged at home 6th ranked Cherkasy (8-17) 88-85 on Saturday. Cherkasy was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 17-11 charge of Odessa, which allowed them to win the game. Odessa outrebounded Cherkasy 33-22 including 16 on the offensive glass. Cherkasy was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Bruce Massey (190-90, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Latvian center Andrejs Selakovs (207-88, agency: Players Group) helped adding 21 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). American forward Chris Cokley (203-96, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the former international Ruslan Otverchenko (192-90) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Odessa moved-up to sixth place. Defending champion Cherkasy dropped to the seventh position with 17 games lost.
