Regular Season Round 28: Nuernberg - Schalke 79-65

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Nuernberg (17-11) defeated at home 13th ranked Schalke (9-19) 79-65 on Saturday. Nuernberg made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Robert Oehle (209-88) fired 24 points for the winners. American guard Ishmail Wainright (196-94, college: Baylor) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American point guard Shavar Newkirk (183-96, college: St.Joseph's) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and center Adam Touray (208-94) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nuernberg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rostock. Schalke lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Nuernberg will face Uni Baskets (#14) in Paderborn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Schalke will play on the road against White Wings in Hanau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
