There was no surprise in Treutchlingen where 10th ranked Ansbach (9-13) was edged by fourth ranked Treuchtlingen (14-8) 88-86 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Treuchtlingen forced 19 Ansbach turnovers. Strangely Ansbach outrebounded Treuchtlingen 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Ansbach was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Lucca Woerrlein fired 22 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Guard Claudio Huhn (185-89) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. Forward Paul Nzeocha (192-91) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Treuchtlingen. They maintain fourth place in South-East with 14-8 record. Loser Ansbach dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. Treuchtlingen will face Rosenheim (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ansbach will play against Vilsbiburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
