Dynamo Kursk upset Spartak Moscow Region in the opener. Dynamo Kursk forced 23 Spartak Vidnoye turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Dynamo Kursk players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Spartak Vidnoye's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Natasha Howard (190-91, college: Florida St., agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Her fellow American import forward Breanna Stewart (193-94, college: Connecticut) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Four Dynamo Kursk players scored in double figures. The former international center Tatiana Sema (193-96) answered with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Puerto Rican point guard Jennifer ONeill (165-90, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) added 8 points in the effort for Spartak Vidnoye. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
