There was no surprise in Zaporozhye where 6th ranked Odessa (9-18) was defeated by third ranked Zaporizhye (18-9) 96-87 on Wednesday. Odessa trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 87-96 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Malique Trent (189-94, college: Hampton) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Volodymyr Shevchenko (200-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Zaporizhye's coach Valeriy Plehanov used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Latvian Arnolds Helmanis (201-92) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Bruce Massey (190-90, college: Middle Tenn.St.) scored 13 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zaporizhye have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Dnipro. Loser Odessa keeps the sixth position with 18 games lost. Zaporizhye will meet at home league's leader Khimik in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Odessa will play against Mykolaiv (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
