Fourteenth-ranked Mersin Uni (7-20) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Mardin BSB (19-8) on Saturday. Mardin BSB managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected much easier game. Mardin BSB dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin Uni's 26. They outrebounded Mersin Uni 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Mardin BSB looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Tugce Kanat (173-85) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Mardin BSB's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Ilkay Masa (186-84, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Cansu Yetis (168-93) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Mersin Uni. Mardin BSB moved-up to third place, which they share with Bayrakli. Mersin Uni lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Mardin BSB will face Yalova Vip (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin Uni will play against Bursa BSB and hope to win that game.
