Regular Season Round 26: Dorsten - Ibbenbueren 97-81

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Ibbenbueren (11-13) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Dorsten (17-7) 97-81 on Saturday. Dorsten outrebounded Ibbenbueren 42-23 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Ibbenbueren's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Mike Nwabuzor (188, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Bulgarian swingman Lyuben Paskov (196-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Nwabuzor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Guard Omar Zemhoute (190-91) produced 28 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and guard Romello-Jacome Steffen (184-95) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dorsten have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in West, which they share with Hagen BG and Herford. Loser Ibbenbueren dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Dorsten will face Recklinghausen (#7) on the road in the next round. Ibbenbueren will play against Herford and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
