Second Stage Round 4: Aabyhoj - Amager 62-65

Important game to mention about took place in Aabyhoj. Second ranked Amager (4-1) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Aabyhoj (4-1) 65-62 in the fight for the first place. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Aabyhoj. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Aabyhoj took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Amager took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 3 points. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Valerie Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Maria Dinesen (171-90) who added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Amager players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Caroline Wich (185-96, college: Portland St.) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Stephanie Mannemar-Jensen (180-90) scored 10 points. Aabyhoj's coach Michael Niebling tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Amager have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aabyhoj and Horsholm. Amager will play against Herlev (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aabyhoj will play against Vaerlose and hopes to get back on the winning track.
