Regular Season Round 23: Perkunas - Panevezio 123-107

There was no surprise in Kaunas where 7th ranked Panevezio (11-10) was defeated by third ranked Perkunas (16-3) 123-107 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Perkunas. Panevezio managed to win second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perkunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Panevezio's players. The best player for the winners was Gytis Nemeiksa (189-1) who scored 31 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Gabrielius Celka (197-1) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Benas Aleliunas (-1) produced 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Mantas Rubstavicius (190-2) added 25 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Perkunas and four Panevezio players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Perkunas moved-up to second place. Panevezio at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Perkunas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Tornado KM.
