Second Stage Round 9: Oradea - Cluj Napoca 75-63
Date: March 29, 2019
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Oradea (15-8) won against at home second-best Cluj Napoca (16-7) 75-63 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Cluj Napoca was better in second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American guard Kris Richard (196-89, college: Tulane) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Richard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American Kyndall Dykes (192-87, college: New Orleans) answered with 14 points and the other American import center Nana Foulland (208-95, college: Bucknell) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Cluj Napoca's coach Mihai Silvasan rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Oradea have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 15-8 record having just six point less than leader Targu Mures. Loser Cluj Napoca keeps the second position with seven games lost. Oradea will face Pitesti (#6) on the road in the next round. Cluj Napoca will play against the league's leader Sibiu (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
