Very important is a road loss of third ranked Vilkmerge (6-8) against fourth ranked Fortuna (6-9) on Friday night. Visiting Vilkmerge was defeated by Fortuna in a tough game in Klaipeda 75-83. Fortuna forced 20 Vilkmerge turnovers. Strangely Vilkmerge outrebounded Fortuna 41-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Andra Gabalyte (179-80, college: Liberty) who scored 20 points and 8 assists. Point guard Ligita Tamutyte (177-99) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Fortuna players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Gabriele Sulske (175-90, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Klaudija Serkeviciute (172-99) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Fortuna maintains fourth position with 6-9 record. Vilkmerge lost third consecutive game. They still keep top place with eight games lost. Fortuna will meet Siauliai-Univ. (#5) on the road in the next round. Vilkmerge will play against Aistes-LSU (#3) in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
