Regular Season Round 27: Langen - Speyer 83-89

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Speyer (24-1) beat on the road 5th ranked TV Langen (12-13) 89-83 on Saturday. Speyer made 32-of-37 free shots (86.5 percent) during the game, while TV Langen only scored six points from the stripe. TV Langen was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Dominican-Spanish power forward Michel Acosta (201-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Tim Schwartz (197-87) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Speyer players scored in double figures. American forward Christopher Edward (201, college: Concordia, OR) answered with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds (perfect from the field making all fifteen shots !!!) and Leander Sielaff (194-94) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for TV Langen. TV Langen's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the twentieth consecutive win for Speyer. They maintain first place in South-West with 24-1 record. Loser TV Langen keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Speyer will face Stuttgart (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TV Langen will play against Giessen Pointers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
