9th ranked Izmit (10-14) was outscored at home by second ranked Fenerbahce (20-4) with the biggest margin this round 78-47. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Izmit's 26. They outrebounded Izmit 42-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Izmit's players. The winners were led by Czech-American power forward Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) who scored that evening 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Kelsey Plum (173-94, college: Washington) supported her with 16 points and 5 assists. Fenerbahce's coach Valerie Garnier felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 13 points and 9 rebounds by Russian forward Marina Bas (194-85) did not help to save the game for Izmit. Guard Melek Yusufoglu (168-94) added 8 points. Fenerbahce have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 20-4 record having just two points less than leader Cukurova. Newly promoted Izmit keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Fenerbahce will play against Kayseri (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Izmit will play against the league's leader Cukurova in Mersin and hopes to get back on the winning track.
