Regular Season Round 30: Vienna - Oberwart 77-76

Important game to mention about took place in Vienna. Seventh ranked Hallmann (14-16) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Gunners Oberwart (21-9) 77-76 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Gunners Oberwart took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hallmann had a 29-24 second period charge getting the lead and Gunners Oberwart was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-77. Hallmann made 16-of-16 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Point guard Luka Gvozden (184-93) notched 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and the former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma) supported him with 22 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Even 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Hayden Lescault (196-92, college: Point Loma) did not help to save the game for Gunners Oberwart. Forward Renato Poljak (197-97) added 19 points and 4 assists. Four Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. Gunners Oberwart's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hallmann moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Arkadia. Gunners Oberwart at the other side dropped to the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Gmunden. Hallmann will play against bottom-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (#10) on the road in the next round. Gunners Oberwart will play against Dukes (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
