Second Stage Round 11: Beira Mar - Dragon Force 87-90

A very close game took place in Aveiro between Dragon Force and Beira Mar. Third ranked Dragon Force (11-12) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Beira Mar (8-17). Dragon Force managed to escape with a 3-point win 90-87 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beira Mar. They outrebounded Beira Mar 34-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Cape Verdean center Kevin-Clay Gomes (208-95) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Francisco Amarante (196-0) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Four Dragon Force players scored in double figures. Dragon Force's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Point guard Goncalo Catarino (173-94) produced 22 points and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Tiago Tavares (185-98) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Dragon Force maintains third place with 11-12 record having nine points less than leader Ginasio. Beira Mar at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 17 games lost. Dragon Force will meet at home league's second-placed Benfica B in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Beira Mar will play against Braga (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
