No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked P.Zvaigzdes (16-11) beat bottom-ranked Nevezis (4-23) in Pasvalys 91-85 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. P.Zvaigzdes made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican swingman Dagoberto Pena (198-88, college: Marshall) who led the winners and scored 21 points. Dutch guard Yannick Franke (194-96) accounted for 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Swingman Gintautas Matulis (196-86, agency: Players Group) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) added 14 points respectively for Nevezis in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. P.Zvaigzdes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lietkabelis. Nevezis lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. P.Zvaigzdes will meet at home higher ranked Neptunas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nevezis will play against Prienu Skycop (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
