Second Stage Round 5: Vaerlose - Aabyhoj 63-54

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Aabyhoj (4-2) on the court of fourth ranked Vaerlose on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Vaerlose 63-54. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-10. But Aabyhoj won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vaerlose forced 20 Aabyhoj turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Swingman Frida Formann (179-1) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and forward Matilde Gustavsen (181-0) chipped in 16 points. Forward Caroline Wich (185-96, college: Portland St.) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Camilla-Lind Christiansen (175-1) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Vaerlose (2-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Herlev. Newly promoted Aabyhoj still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Amager.
