There was no surprise in Botevgrad where 6th ranked Spartak Pleven (9-11) was defeated by third ranked Balkan (14-7) 108-95. Balkan outrebounded Spartak Pleven 34-23 including 21 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. American guard Brandon Brown (186-89, college: Montana-West) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Mikael Hopkins (206-93, college: Georgetown) contributed with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Balkan's coach Nebojsa Vidic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) answered with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and point guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (175-86) added 22 points and 9 assists in the effort for Spartak Pleven. Five Balkan and four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Balkan maintains third place with 14-7 record having five points less than leader Levski Lukoil.
