The most exciting game of round 31 in the A Bundesliga took place in Traiskirchen. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Timberwolves (12-19) to sixth ranked Arkadia Lions (15-16) 92-91 on Thursday evening. Timberwolves were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Arkadia Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 28. They outrebounded Timberwolves 39-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Arkadia Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: NC Central) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Benedikt Danek (176-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 assists. Croatian guard Petar Cosic (183-85, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Philipp DAngelo (198-89) added 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Four Arkadia Lions and five Timberwolves players scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Arkadia Lions maintains sixth place with 15-16 record, which they share with Vienna. Newly promoted Timberwolves keep the eighth position with 19 games lost. Arkadia Lions is looking forward to face league's second-placed Gmunden Swans on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Timberwolves will play against Dukes (#4) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
