Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Herford (19-7) outscored at home 8th ranked Recklinghausen (11-15) 97-67 on Saturday. Herford dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Recklinghausen's 32. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Sam Cassell-Jr (193-92, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) who added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Herford's coach Christos Diktapanidis felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest.
