The game in Mariupol was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Khimik-2 (8-10) played at the court of 7th ranked Mariupol (4-14). Khimik-2 defeated Mariupol 111-99 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik-2. Mariupol managed to win fourth quarter 29-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Mariupol's 46. Guard Dmytro Holovchyk (187-0) scored 41 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Vitaliy Shorstkiy (194-0) chipped in 28 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Gleb Buzko (193-92) with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Oleksandr Biella (201-95) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik-2 moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KDPU. Mariupol lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. Khimik-2 will meet at home Niko-Basket (#6) in the next round. Mariupol will play against Lutsk Univ. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
