Regular Season Round 29: Besiktas - Gelisim Koleji 73-69

There was a minor upset in Istanbul where their close opponent Ozel Gelisim Koleji (10-17) was defeated by fifth ranked Besiktas (12-16) 73-69 on Sunday. Besiktas forced 19 Ozel Gelisim Koleji turnovers. Selahattin Yalcin (-1) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Ege Sun (-0) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Besiktas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Arda Gurtan (-2) responded with 19 points and 6 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Atahan Demirtas (-0) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Four Ozel Gelisim Koleji players scored in double figures. Besiktas maintains fifth place with 12-16 record which they share with defeated Ozel Gelisim Koleji. Loser Ozel Gelisim Koleji keeps the fifth position with 17 games lost. Besiktas will face higher ranked TAC NEF (#4) in Tarsus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ozel Gelisim Koleji will play at home against TED Ankara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
