Regular Season Round 24: Darussafaka - Besiktas 73-74

A very close game took place in Istanbul between Besiktas and Darussafaka. Seventh ranked Besiktas (12-11) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Darussafaka (10-13). Besiktas managed to escape with a 1-point win 74-73 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Darussafaka. The winners were led by American swingman Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored that evening 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Israeli power forward Joe Alexander (203-86, college: WVU, agency: Alti Sport) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!). Even 20 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Jeremy Evans (206-87, college: WKU) did not help to save the game for Darussafaka. The former international point guard Kartal Ozmizrak (189-95, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Besiktas maintains seventh position with 12-11 record. Darussafaka at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Pinar Karsiyaka. Besiktas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul BBSK.
