Regular Season Round 24: Siauliu - Mazeikiu SM 82-86 OT

Mazeikiu SM (13-7) survived in overtime against Siauliu (16-5) by four points 86-82 on Tuesday night. The game took place in Siauliai. But the guests from Mazeikiai were better at the end. Siauliu was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 16-13 charge of Mazeikiu SM, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-13. Mazeikiu SM forced 22 Siauliu turnovers. Strangely Siauliu outrebounded Mazeikiu SM 52-29 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Jokubas Rubinas (191-2) who scored 32 points and 4 assists. Guard Kasparas Sion (185-2) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Deividas Visockis (-1) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Edvinas Daunys (202-2) added 16 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Four Mazeikiu SM and five Siauliu players scored in double figures. Mazeikiu SM have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Siauliu at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Mazeikiu SM will have a break next round. Siauliu will play again on the road against Mazeikiu SM in Mazeikiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
