Eighth-ranked Dzukija (9-19) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Lietkabelis (18-11) in Alytus on Thursday. The visitors from Panevezys managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 22-14 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 3-point victory in overtime. The best player for the winners was Nigerian guard Ike Iroegbu (188-95, college: WSU) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Saulius Kulvietis (205-91) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Turkish forward Kerem Kanter (208-95, college: Xavier) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Lietkabelis and five Dzukija players scored in double figures. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lietkabelis maintains fourth place with 18-11 record. Dzukija at the other side keeps the eighth position with 19 games lost. Lietkabelis will face bottom-ranked Nevezis (#10) in Kedainiai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dzukija will play at home against Prienu Skycop and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
