Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Banvit and 10th ranked Darussafaka had identical 10-13 record. But Darussafaka was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Balikesir 89-82. It was a great shooting night for Banvit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. American forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: WSU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Mexican point guard Alexander Perez-Kaufmann (191-93, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Nigerian center Micheal Eric (210-88, college: Temple) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Kartal Ozmizrak (189-95, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Darussafaka. Four Banvit and five Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Darussafaka's coach Selcuk Ernak rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Banvit (11-13) moved-up to eighth place. Darussafaka at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Banvit will play against higher ranked Besiktas (#7) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Darussafaka will play on the road against Sakarya BSB (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
