Second Stage Round 8: Ternopil-TNEU - Prometey 82-79

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Prometey (18-2) on the court of second ranked Ternopil-TNEU on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Ternopil-TNEU 82-79. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Prometey. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Prometey trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 29-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-82 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Prometey 46-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Ternopil-TNEU looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Prometey helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU maintains second position with 15-5 record having just 33 point less than leader Prometey. Prometey at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top place with two games lost. Ternopil-TNEU are looking forward to face Mariupol (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Prometey will play against Lutsk Univ. (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
