Second Stage Round 12: Niko-Basket - Ternopil-TNEU 87-74

The most important game in the last round took place in Mykolaiv between second ranked Ternopil-TNEU (17-7) and sixth ranked Niko-Basket (9-15) on Friday night. Ternopil-TNEU was defeated by Niko-Basket on the road 87-74. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 44-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Niko-Basket outrebounded Ternopil-TNEU 44-33 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Stanislav Serpilin (193-93) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds and forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) who added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Maxim Nikitin (201-89) with 26 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Maxim Ivshyn (209-86) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Ternopil-TNEU's coach Dmitry Zabirchenko rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niko-Basket maintains sixth position with 9-15 record. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU keeps the second place with seven games lost. Niko-Basket are looking forward to face Lutsk Univ. (#8) on the road in the next round. Ternopil-TNEU will play against KDPU (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
