Regular Season Round 35: Neptunas - Siauliai 96-75
Date: May 5, 2019
There was no surprise in Klaipeda where 10th ranked Siauliai (7-29) was crushed by second ranked Neptunas (28-7) 96-75. The game was mostly controlled by Neptunas. Siauliai was better in second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Neptunas players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners and scored 17 points. American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Center Benas Griciunas (213-94, college: EWU) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American guard Seth Allen (185-94, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) added 15 points and 12 assists respectively for Siauliai in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Neptunas. They maintain second place with 28-7 record behind leader Zalgiris. Siauliai lost their fourth game in a row. They stay dead last with 29 lost games. Neptunas' next round opponent will be league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas and it will be for sure the game of the week.
