Very expected game when 12th ranked BBC Bayreuth (14-19) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Brose Baskets (21-12) 90-79 on Friday. Brose Baskets made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. American Augustine Rubit (200-89, college: S.Alabama) stepped up and scored 15 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and his fellow American import Bryce Taylor (195-86, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 19 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: URI) with 19 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and Slovenian Gregor Hrovat (196-94) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brose Baskets maintains fifth place with 21-12 record. BBC Bayreuth lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Brose Baskets will face s Oliver Baskets (#8) in Wuerzburg in the next round. BBC Bayreuth will play on the road against Braunschweig (#9) and hope to win that game.
