The game in Mykolaiv was also quite interesting. 4th placed Khimik-2 (13-13) played at the court of sixth ranked Niko-Basket (11-16). Niko-Basket did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 94-77 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Khimik-2. The game without a history. Niko-Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Khimik-2's 36. They outrebounded Khimik-2 52-25 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was point guard Vadym Kozak (184-99) with 19 points and 8 assists and Denys Klevzunyk (192-0) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Niko-Basket maintains sixth place with 11-16 record. Loser Khimik-2 keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. They share it with KDPU. Niko-Basket will again meet at home higher ranked Khimik-2 (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Khimik-2 will have a break next round.
