Regular Season Round 1: Trier - Karlsruhe PS 76-78

Date: September 21, 2019
A very interesting game took place in Trier. It ended with only two-point home defeat of Gladiators (0-1) to Lions (1-0) 78-76 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. 26 personal fouls committed by Gladiators helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Justin Gordon (198-93, college: Wofford) nailed 20 points for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Josh Nzeakor (203-97, college: Lamar) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Gordon is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Jordan Geist (188-97, college: Missouri) came up with 23 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Till Gloger (204-93, college: Maine) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Gladiators in the defeat. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lions' next round opponent will be Phoenix Hagen (#14) at home which should be an easy win for them. Gladiators will play against Kirchheim Knights and hope to win that game.
